What should I wear on race day?

While you can wear almost anything we have a few suggestions:

  • Avoid cotton whenever possible. Cotton retains moisture and can become very heavy and cause chafing.
  • Trail running shoes and lightweight apparel that drains well; remember, it's likely you will be soaking wet and/or muddy.
  • New shoes on race day are NOT recommended. Race in the shoes you trained in.
  • Remember this is a family event! Please be considerate of others and dress appropriately and sensibly.

Please note some of our Competitive heats will have a dress code. This will be mentioned in the pre-race Racer Guide. For these events we will require that those entering the start corral for the professional competitive wave wear sensible athletic wear designed for running or trails.

You are representing the future of the sport, and it is being covered as a professional sport, so costumes will not be allowed in the competitive waves.

We do understand costumes have been a part of this sports birth and good nature, but, aiming for Olympic inclusion, we need to have a more professional presentation. Most sports have a dress code for press reasons.

Prohibited items include:

  • Alcohol
  • Weapons
  • Drones
  • Shade tents or popup gazebos
  • Any pets, with the exception of registered service animals

Spartan staff reserve the right to perform visual inspection of bags with the presence of the owner.
