What's the difference between Elite, Age Group and Open?

When you register for an event, you will see the following options:

  • Elite: The Elite Heat, for our most competitive racers, is split between Elite Male and Elite Female. These are the first two start times of each race day. Racers in the Elite Heat are eligible for cash prizes and Elite rankings.

  • Age Group: Similar to the Elite Heat except in this category, you only compete against racers in the same age bracket (and gender based on heat capacity). Some age brackets will have their own start time. The top three finishers in each age bracket will receive awards.

  • Open: Open waves are for all athletes aged 14+ and and all skill/fitness levels. No prizes are awarded for these heats.

If you aren't looking to race competitively and/or would like to race with friends across different age groups, we recommend that you select the Open category.
