What is a Spartan Trail race?

Spartan Trail is your global introduction to running in the wild with no obstacles! There are 40+ races globally in 2021 with distances ranging from 10K to 50K, with events for all abilities and a chance to earn points for the Trail World Championships!

Trail races are only offered at select events.

What is the 10k Night Trail?

The 10k Night Trail is a new, non-competitive event where running through the night offers a challenge to the body and mind. There are no awards or Competitive heats for the 10k Night Trail.

The race will start at 5pm on the Friday night of a signature Spartan Australia event. Racers will have timing chips. This is traditional trail running. Sometimes you might end with a fire jump, but this is celebratory and not any different to jumping over a small fallen tree. You can also circle around it.

There is a 4 hour cut-off time, where the course will be swept and runners escorted or removed.

You will need to bring a headlamp/headtorch - this is mandatory. A hydration pack is strongly recommended.

All finishers receive a unique Spartan Trail medal and finisher t-shirt.

Spartan Trail events do not count toward the Spartan Trifecta. 10k Night Trail events are strictly non-competitive 'open wave' races, so no awards apply.

Is the trail just running over the obstacle course?

No - with a focus on course quality, only the start and finish line elements are shared, with no unnecessary loops or zig zags will be included. Singletrack and other technical trail race elements will be included whenever available.

All Trail participants start together (increments within the COVID Safe Plan). There are no separate Competitive or Open heats.
